What a fantastic 1st game for all the Starfish 1s. They took on the Woongarrah Starfish 2s. All players kicked, tackled, and listened to the coach and referee really well. Congratulations to Jordi for getting player of the match.

Under 5 Starfish 2

Today our match against another woongarah under 5’s showed us how we play together and what we can work on, the children were super excited to start playing and use that energy to kick a ball around. Our play Hemi Collins scored an amazing goal and encouraged the others in the game as well.

After a delayed start to the season the 6D 1, was super excited to start the year. The team all had a great first game, with Ella, Oliver, and Marlee all scoring goals in their first official games. Our first Player of the Match was awarded to Oliver, who tried hard to support his team in attack and defense. Well done Dolphins we are looking forward to a great season.

Under 6 Dolphin 2

Well, what a way to kick off our season (finally)!! We were so keen for our boys to get out and play a game, not just because they were begging for a game to go ahead already but to see how they worked as a team given there were a few new faces this year. Needless to say, the kids had a blast playing together & actually gelled impressively well. There was a lot of great passing, communication & most importantly sportsmanship shown on that field. This week our player of the match trophy was awarded to Jonathan who showed great ambition & awareness of his teammates around him on the field which helped him set up a few goals as well.

Under 6 Dolphin 3

The kiddies had their first game and it was the best first game of u6’s I have seen. They all had a laugh and were all red-faced by the end. The Player of the match was Dylan Gimenez he was on fire so proud of all of the little Dolphins.

The Player of the week went to Landon Cottee for great work on the field, for scoring goals, and for playing strategically. Great Work Dolphin 5

In a tough match against Gwandalan in the heat (and rain), this little team did an awesome job for their first game together! We saw some good passing and great throw-ins. There were fantastic attacking runs from Logan, Dean, Ivy, and Tiger and some excellent tackling from Rylee, Charlize, Simba, and Chloe. Logan stopped two runaways and scored our first goal of the season! Well done 8 Jellyfish 1, we can’t wait to see some more super soccer from you!, The player of the Match Logan

Under 8 Jellyfish 2

It was a great first game, both teams played so well and the parents were all so happy to see the kids get into their first game. When I did the timesheet I missed Fenn Bracken as it was the first time meeting some of the kids who missed our first training session. If he can be added to the timesheet that would be great as it was my mistake that he was missed.  The young girl as the referee did a great job. The player of the match was Braydon

Great game from Isaac C in his first game playing soccer. Well done to the players as they tried hard but didn’t come up with the win. Thanks to Steve for stepping up as coach this week.

The girls played a amazing game today, considering it was such a big field compared to what they are use too. We could not be anymore prouder of how the work well as team. We were joined by our new girl Evangeline, who has not really played soccer before, but she did a amazing job on the field. The girls passing skills are wonderful. Player of the match went to Evangeline Kozhamthadam for getting in and having a go and never giving up welcome to the team Evangeline.⚽️🥅

The team is actually 12/C but can’t nominate that in team selection. First game together for the boys and the start wasn’t the best and we were quickly down 3 nil. The boys came back strong with a hattrick from Jacob and some great defensive work from Oliver saw us close the gap late in the game. Lots of running from the midfield players consisting of Ben.M, Ben.N, Jake & Xander with both Ben.N & Xander scoring as well. Unfortunately, we lost 7-5 but was a gallant effort in the end.

Under 13A

Finally the boys were back on the pitch after almost a year of no football. We were one of the lucky teams this week that got to get back on the park for Round 1 & the boys were focused on starting the season with a strong performance. We started a little shaky, with Killarney having full field position & enjoyed a lot of space in and around our box – some good scrambling at the back kept the score line 0-0 for the first 25 minutes as we began to find our groove. Cooper pounced on a bouncing ball at the top of the box & the boys took a 1-0 lead into HT. At the break we spoke about being better in possession & getting to the loose ball quicker. Despite having more chances in the 2nd half, we unfortunately conceded 2 goals off the back of mistakes – finishing the game a 2-1 loss. Although we took 0 points today I think we take away more positive than negatives as our new side continues to gel both on and off the pitch. On to the next one!

Under 14B

The weather was amazing and we had just enough players available to fill every position. After Kanwal put an early goal in past our keeper, there were a few positional changes made and the team really kicked into gear. We were able to find the back of the net twice to set up a healthy 2-1 lead before Kanwal beat the off-side trap on halfway and snuck a goal through our defense. Apart from this brief incursion into our half, we held the majority of the position and kept the ball forward for most of the second half of play, resulting in our third goal for the game. Strong defense was able to keep Kanwal at bay and eventually secure the victory. Massive thanks to Logan for helping the team today and jumping on the field to substitute some very tired players. Well done everyone.

Under 14D

Our team travelled to Toukley in our first game of the 2022 season. We managed to get off to a good start by scoring first in the first half. The second half was also a tight one but we managed to net a few more goals and run out winners. This was a great effort considering we had no subs well done team great start to the season

Under 15A

The boys put in a good effort and were on the back foot from the start. With Jack getting injured in the warm-up it resulted in players having to play in several different positions than what they normally would. With a new style demanding high intensity it was always going to be a tough ask. You could see the boys put everything on the pitch but it was not enough. Back to the drawing board, we go as we prepare for Kanwal this week

Under 15C

In an exciting game, Woongarrah was able to apply consistent pressure throughout the entire match to eventually win 5-1. It was a great effort by the boys considering they played the first match of the season without any reserves. The first 20 minutes was a tight tussle with both teams having opportunities to score. On one occasion, Woongarrah had 4 shots in short succession but was unable to get through the goalies defences. Shortly after, Rohith Srinivas scored the first goal and this was quickly followed by a second from Rohith. Just on half time, Rohith scored his 3rd goal with a great individual effort beating a number of players. Fatigue was a factor in the second half and Gwandalan was able to apply more pressure. Numerous attacking runs by Gwandalan were stopped by Douglas Ruzicka playing at left center-back however Gwandalan was able to score halfway through the second half. Woongarrah had many opportunities in the last quarter of the match and right-winger Ravi Francke was able to land a long-range shot into the net making the final score 5-1. Every man for Woongarrah played well and it was a good team effort. Special mention to Rohith who scored 4 goals, Levi and Ravi Francke who both did a tremendous amount of work up and down the sidelines, and to Douglas Ruzicka who saved a number of scoring opportunities.

Was very proud of all the players for their first game of the year, with not many training sessions. They went out strong scoring within the first minute of the game. Gosford came back strong throwing everything they could At us but we stayed strong in defence we had a couple of chances to get more goals but didn’t take those opportunities. we finely got the second goal within the final 30 seconds of the game. very proud of the team for not giving up.

Great start to 2022 girls, some great attack and defence shown today. Well done to the new girls who have joined the team , they all contributed a lot! Special mention to Scarlett and Lauren who both enjoyed their very first game of soccer! We are all looking forward to a great season ahead!!

2022 kicks off at home vs Berkley with only 4 training sessions leading into game 1 the girls were pumped and nervous. The game started well with Bel scoring off a volley from a corner in the 5th minute to settle a few nerves after this the game was played mainly in the middle 3 rd with a few chances at either end until Zoe made a break and scored off a deflection then Sienna finishing a great team goal from the keeper to midfield with a perfect pass from Brea putting Sienna 1 on 1 with the keeper and she made no mistake scoring. Leading 3-0 at the break the girls were exhausted but determined to go on with the job. Berkley came out strong in the 2nd half and had a few good chances some great saves and defence kept them to 0 with 2 late goals to Gemma & Zoe resulting in a tough 5-0 win. Well done girls.

MAA6

The boys put in a valiant fight after conceding two early goals to Toukley. After the first 20 minutes of play the cat’s rust finally wore off and the momentum of the game was In our favor, passing became much sharper and chances at goal were being created out of seemingly nothing. A pinpoint cross from the new signing of Liam Chauncy was swiftly finished by Matt Allen to bring the score back to 2-1 just before halftime. A third goal from Toukley late in the second half made it an uphill battle however the cats never gave up on the fight. both teams struggled to hold possession in the final 20 minutes of the game as the cat’s efforts were rewarded with a penalty right before full time. Logan Moore stepped up to the spot and tucked the ball away into the left-hand side of the goal giving the keeper no chance of saving the penalty at all. Final score, Toukley: 3 – Woongarrah: 2

Tight even start to the match with both teams trying to strike the opening blow. Southern would pounce on the counter and take a 1-0 lead. We had our chances to equalise and would dominate field position only for some good scramble defence by southern to keep us out. We could not do the same down our end as off a corner southern would make the most of it and our failure to clear would gift them a chance to go 2-0 up at the break. The second half mirrored the first and failure to find the net would cost us with southern bringing on fresh legs which would get their 3rd late on & seal the match. Always tough to take points at southern and a soft bumpy pitch underfoot made things harder. A game where you have to take your scoring opportunities and failure to do so was what cost us the game with southern making the most of theirs. That was the difference between the sides and southern getting to train on that terrain week in and week out gave them an advantage. Honourable mentions – Robbie Cooper, Myles Donnelly, Jimmy Miller, and Jayden Rogers

BPL Res Grade

First hit out for the boys after a disruptive pre season with that said I was proud of the effort the boys put in. Not once did we drop our heads when we conceded on the 3 occasions we continued to fight until the end finding the back of the Net twice last goal on the 89th minute shows the fight they had never gave up. Fitness played a big part in the game as we struggled as the game continue and our transition was slow to react and southern Court us out on two accessions due to this. Overall great effort and we know what to work on to get the 3 point next Game.. Kynan Curry received the player of the match well deserved.

BPL 21’s

Not the start to the season we were hoping for going down to a much sharper opposition on Sunday. Showed some good signs in patches but we need to put in a lot more effort if we are to compete with the big guns this year. In saying that it was really our first game together and it is only onwards and upwards from here.

This week saw another fantastic game for the Woongarrah in Wildcats Starfish team. All members contributed and demonstrated teamwork, using the skills they had been working on during training. The rain did not stop everyone having a great time! A special shout out to Savannah for getting player of the match.

Today we played against Toukley, our woongarah team were super enthusiastic having scored multiple goals from Kaine Macey and Michael Burling. The team were making some amazing runs and defending as best they can keeping the score even till the end. Toukley players were quite shy and struggled to keep a full team on the pitch but they still managed to remain competitive.

The team had a win this week against Killarney Vale at Edsaac. Lots of players were able to get some shots at goal, with Tiger and Alex scoring a goal each and Alfie scoring 2! Logan and Alex took a turn as goalie and did a fantastic job. We saw some excellent defence and big kicks by Rylee and Charlize, while Dean and Chloe impressed with their throw ins and Tiger and Simba did some wonderful passes. We had our first ever corner kicks taken by Charlize and Alfie. The team topped off the day by singing happy birthday to our player of the match, Ivy, for her teancity to keep trying for shots on goal! What a wonderful morning. Well done 8 Jellyfish 1!

Under 8 Jellyfish 2

A great team effort today by the boys. The team is getting much better at structure and passing to each other. The second half saw them spread out much more and calling for the pass. All this team-work culminated in the wildcats scoring 15 goals, of which the boys were extremely excited. With 3 reserves the boys rotated well and a number of them have been trying their hand at goal keeping as this is a new skill for this season.

Finally, the boys got to play their first game! The Hamlyn Terrace oval was in great condition and luckily the rain held off for the game. The team had a fantastic first game with some great moments where they all worked together and made some amazing passes and shots for goal. It was a very exciting game to watch with some tense moments. The coach and all the parents are proud of the boys and are excited to see them grow more as a team. The player of the week went to Tony Fletcher, who had a great game and worked very hard as a defender.

We finally got on the pitch for our first game vs Umina!! We moved into the A’s this year – and with the majority of last year’s players remaining with the team – it was certainly a step up in class, and one our Wildcats met with enthusiasm. We welcomed 4 new players to the fold this season and the combinations started showing already, and I look forward to a solid season together. Umina came out strong, attacking hard in the first half, and it was a scramble trying to stick with them, which we did – entering half time still with no score, and a sense that these are the types of competitive games we all want to play in. There was effort all across the park, attacking plays starting from our backline, and our energy not waning as time went on. There was a screamer from Nate which was well deserved, some epic saves from Coop, and Otis took the defensive lead and was near unstoppable as he took our “player of the match” honours. We came off the field exhausted, leaving nothing out there – and I’m proud of all our players. I’m looking forward to spending more time with the team and developing our plays – I’m sure we are all in for a great season 2022 Bring on next weekend!!!

Under 13A

Our boys headed to The Entrance this week in the hope we would bounce back from last rounds late defeat. Before the game we spoke about the importance of keeping our structure, and to be confident in ourselves once we reach the final 3rd. To the boys credit they looked a completely different team to last week in the opening half hour. 3 goals, a penalty, and one way traffic saw us enjoy the majority of early possession and field position. Despite the solid start, we lost our defensive composure at the back end of the half to take a 3-2 lead into the break. At HT we spoke about staying positive when we didn’t have the ball, and to not take our chances in the final 3rd for granted. In the second period we learnt exactly why that’s important as an inspired Entrance side quick-fired 3 goals to take the lead and effectively sink us into chasing the back end of the game. To the boys credit, we didn’t stop as Levi’s solo effort inspired a strong finish & some sharp glovework from Lachy set up an interesting end to the match. All in all, after taking such a healthy lead early on, I’m disappointed with the result however this is a great learning curve for our boys. An improvement from last week but I know we can be better!

Under 14B

Our team were a bit slow to start and had to battle hard to be level at half time with 2 goals to each team. A change of game plan was discussed with the playing group at the break and they came out firing in the second half. The second half was a bit more one-sided with our team scoring 8 goals to their 1. Fantastic effort by everyone, great to see them all enjoying their football.

Deservedly lost the derby. Was 4 – 0 down after 10 minutes and decided to show up afterwards. During the rest of the game we had long periods where it felt like we were on top but it could not outdo our own slopiness in the first 10 minutes.

Under 15C

In a one sided match Woongarrah ran out winners 19-3. Throughout the game there were some great individual efforts from Rohith and Tafara with Rohith eventually scoring 6 goals. Woongarrah borrowed 2 players from the 14B’s, Max and Mali who backed up immediately after their game. Both boys had excellent games and came away with some goals. Also a special mention to Malcolm Borg from 14D’s who also assisted in the second half. Overall, it was a good team effort and it was pleasing to see the boys trying to stick to the game plan.

Under 16A

After almost 12months, the boys geared up for (finally) our first game of the season against a strong Entrance side. We knew today would be an arm wrestle, as weather aside both teams had similar play styles & strengths. We were strong in the first 25 & created some good opportunities through our wingbacks however failed to convert with Bayley seeing two brilliant headers saved between the goalkeeper & the crossbar. Dean almost broke the lock from 20 yards however again, the woodwork denied us the lead. Entrance went 1 up in what I felt was against the run of play however some good build up & a slight lax on the 18yard provided a good opportunity & they capitalised. We responded positive & Sebby equalised minutes later after finding space just at the top of the box through a number of defensive bodies. At HT we spoke about how we could be better structurally & prevent conceding against Ennys quick counter. 2nd period was once again an arm wrestle which saw us fight from behind once again, finding an equaliser through a brilliant individual effort from Zach. Some tired legs in the last 10min could’ve seen this game go either way however despite producing more goal opportunities I feel a draw is probably a fair result considering. Happy with our efforts today, & even more stoked to see our sideline loud & out in force for our first game!

BPL 1st Grade

We started strong with a lot of good early chances but couldn’t find the net. Dominating field position the chances kept coming but Kariong’s keeper would keep us at bay and against the run of play they almost found the net before half time one of their rare sites on goal but our keeper Josh Masters would rush the striker making him spray it wide. 0-0 at the break. The second half & the same continued but we would finally find the back of the net with Jayden Rogers picking the ball up at halfway and a strong driving run before putting the ball in the top corner from 25 out. 5 minutes later & This time Jayden would become the provider with a lovely pass finding Aj Henderson whose great first touch would set him up nicely, then a good finish to give us a 2 goal advantage. We would continue to pepper Kariong’s goal with more scoring opportunities that were narrowly missed. Once again they would get on goal against the run of play even though Everyone could see he was 5 metres offside but this time they would put the ball in the net & make it 2-1 with 10 to go. Final score would end 2-1. Good to play at home in front of our fantastic supporters, who are second to none. We dominated the game & created a lot of good goal-scoring opportunities but we need to convert these to not undo all our hard work.Honourable mentions were hard this week as so many played really well. Man of the match Kyle Harvey.

2nd hit out for the season and the boys just keep improving with every game they play. We started the game off very well and kept possession for a good majority of the game and creating chances, just not punishing the opposition on those occasions allowing Kariong to stay in the Game and scoring the first goal of the game from a free kick out side the Box. The game then became an arm wrestle with woongarrah next to score from a great finish by Mitch Bettles and started to take control again. Just unlucky not to put away another goal to take the game, ending in a 1-1 draw. Player of the Match after a great game was Ty Bagnall.

BPL 21’s

Another tough game to start the season for the lads but I am sure improvement is not far away. The boys showed in patches what they are capable of but in this league you need to be consistent for the full ninety minutes. Onwards and upwards from here.

In a slow start Woongarrah ran out winners 11-0. Terrigal started strongly and enjoyed the majority of possession in the first 10 minutes of the game but were unable to score. Woongarrah opened their account about 10 minutes into the game and from this point the team settled down into their game plan, controlled possession and scored steadily. The half-time score was 6-0. Terrigal came out with all guns blazing in the second half and again enjoyed a lot of possession. They had numerous attacking moved but most were intercepted by Douglas Ruzicka playing at centre right back. Terrigal had a couple of strong shots at goal that were saved by Goalie Isaac Jol. Woongarrah played well throughout the second half, their possession was controlled and were able to put through numerous balls that resulted in goals. The Terrigal goalie had a great game and saved numerous shots that should have resulted in goals. Best players were the entire back line for the cats especially Mitchell Curry at left back and Vaughn Peachey at right back. Debutant for the team Josh Nicholls had a great game. Overall, it was a good team effort, it was pleasing to see the passing game improve and the boys starting to work well together.

Mothers day clash away vs Kincumber on a very wet field the girls knew they were in a battle before we started with only 2 subs today. The start of the game could not of started any better with the first time we had the ball some great play then a perfect pass to Zoe beating her opponent and beating the keeper with a left foot strike into the bottom corner . The next 20 minutes was end to end at a fast pace which had us tired and Kincumber had the better of the last 15 minutes with the girls just defending their goal. A 1-0 lead at half time was deserved but the 2 nd half would be tough with the girls exhausted. The 2nd half gave us 1 chance but was saved well by their keeper with 4 subs and rotating well they had us on the ropes but some brilliant defence and some great saves by our keeper kept the score at 1-0 till the end a terrific result by the girls today. The Player of the match is Kiarna with some amazing defence today Well done girls we asked a lot of you today and you all kept helping each other.

Our first win of the season as the inaugural 45s. It was the local derby with Kanwal and we were keen to get our first win. Jarrod provided our only goal, although we should of scored a few more. A scrappy game but happy with the win. We play Kanwal again on Thursday night at Pluim Park. I am sure they will put us to the test.

BPL 1st Grade

First 10 minutes was played at a very high pace with us having the better field position. Off a corner Bailey Koopman would put the ball in the back of the net with a clean strike from just inside the box to make it 1-0.Both teams would have their fair share of chances on goal with ours going to the keeper or just missing & the entrance making Our keeper pull off some good saves. Josh would make a great one on one save with the ball going out, yet this was deemed a penalty and he didn’t even receive a yellow card. They would convert their gift from the Ref & make it 1-1. The second half & both teams would continue to play at a high tempo. Jayden Rogers would take a great first touch to evade his defender then put the ball in the corner from outside the 18 to make it 2-1. The game would take a massive swing with Jayden receiving his second yellow of the game and for only his second foul of the game. Another gift from the Ref & making us have to play the last 25 with 10 men. The Entrance would make the most of their 1 man advantage & level the score 2-2. With only a few minutes to go the Entrance would be awarded their second spot kick of the match only for Josh masters to pick the right way pulling of a quality save so we could take a point from the match. The match was an end to end game with both teams playing some quality football had the Ref not been wearing an Entrance jersey we would of got all 3 points. Man of the match Chris Gavin

BPL Res Grade

The boys started the game off very well and put a lot of pressure on the entrance defence having 6 corners in first 20 minutes of the game and finally scoring of a corner with a short ball played to Nathan gaunt who placed a great Cross in for Mitch Bettles the head it into the back of the Net. Unfortunately, our great effort to score we let ourselves down to allow the entrance to score straight of the kickoff to level it at half time 1-1 After our half time chat the boys went out into the 2nd half and started to take our opportunities when presented and to put pressure on the opposition, with great pressure and hunger we scored 3 times in the 2nd half Mitch Bettles pressure on the keeper off the entrance mistake to head the ball home, Jamie Witherspoon corner cause a entrance player to score an own goal and to finish the game off with a great shot and his 3rd of the day giving Mitch his hat trick. The boys played good football and I feel we will just continue to grow as a team and become even stronger well done . And congratulations to our player of the match Josh Witherspoon who worked so hard in the middle of the park,he was everywhere and played good football.

BPL 21’s

The boys started off great and dominated the game for the first 20 minutes and had a couple of great chances to take the lead. But a lapse in concentration cost us and we found ourselves behind. I don’t think the shoreline reflected the game. We are improving each match and I don’t think it will be long before we take some competition points and start to prove we have what it takes to be competitive.

What a game from our fantastic team today! It was a goal fest with Alfie, Charlize, Ivy, Alex, Tiger, Rylee and Logan all scoring at least one. What was just as impressive though was the team passing and working together with some clever throw ins and corner kicks. Dean did a great save in goals and Chloe and Simba were vital in attack and defence. Charlize was awarded player of the match for her sportsmanship, comforting and helping players from both teams when they were injured. Keep up the excellent work 8 Jellyfish 1s! The Under 10B’s had another amazing performance this week. Dominating possession, went down 0-1 against the run of play. Noah equalised with a strong run, his left foot shot well-blocked by the keeper before Noah tapped it in. Down 2-1, good first save from Evan, only for their striker to slot it from a tight angle. But now 2-2 with good lead up play across the midfield before a strong finish from Chase. 3-2 Cooper has a shot, strong right foot and in. Very even in the second half with very reliable Nate sweeping in defence. With two good saves after some sustained pressure from the Rams. Solid finish 3-2 Three special mentions this week Congratulations to Jack for player of the match Also congratulations to Issac for another amazing game. Shout out to Fletch for helping out 10C at the start of their game, showing great club spirit!

Woongarrah had their first defeat of the year going down 4-0 to Toukley. It was a very tight first half with Toukley scoring the only goal. Woongarrah had several shots at goal and for most of the first half were on top of their opponents. In the last 10 minutes of the first half, Toukley controlled the ball and had more possession. It began this way in the second half and Toukley were able to score 2 more goals attacking down the right wing. As the second half progressed, Woongarrah had a number of attacking opportunities and shots at goal but were unable to score. The Toukley goalie had a great game and saved a number of shots that everyone thought were going to find the back of the net. Toukley had numerous attempts at goal and Woongarrah goalkeeper Charlie Hammett made several great saves. Best for Woongarrah were Douglas Ruzicka playing at centre right back who managed to cut off many of the Toukley attacks; Ben O’Brien who was everywhere on the field and settled the team with some good controlled passing; Charlie Hammett in goals; and Levi and Ravi Francke on the wings. A special mention to Ashton Godyn from the 14B’s who played 3/4 of the match. He came up at late notice and had a strong game.

A scrappy start to the match as you could see both teams were desperate for the points. We would enjoy good field position with Wyoming’s defence keeping us at bay. They would have a chance or 2 but not a eventful first half for both sides. Next 45 we would start to open up Wyoming’s defence as they would start to tire with Jamie Bartlett getting a one on one but Tom Coventry Would pull off a great save. Not long after it would be Kyle Harvey on goal after some great link up play and he would make no mistake calmly slotting it away to go 1 up. With the game looking to be sealed as it went into extra time a long cross would find a Wyoming player at the far post unmarked to head home the equaliser. 1-1 full time. Hopefully the boys will learn from this and do better next week. Man of the match – Mark Harmsworth

BPL Res Grade

The reserve grade boys played a game where we didn’t take our chances and lost points as a result. We started the game of well and had majority of possession the only error was we turned over possession to easy with to many cheap turnovers and mistakes that allowed Wyoming to score the only goal of the game to take the win. This is a learning curve for the boys and I know we have it in us and when we start to punish teams when we take our chances and make them count the results will start to come our way.

Another solid performance from 10B. The boys controlled the game very well and ensured passing was achieved around the field. After conceding a goal in the first half the second half showed exactly what team work could produce with an amazing team goal to even the match. A special mention must be given to Evan for volunteering to help the opposing team in the first half who were missing players. His selfless act allowed the game to go ahead until the rest of the team arrived. We had two players of the match today due to the great defensive efforts of Jimmy and the Selfless action of Evan. Woongarrah dominated possession and territory throughout the game with several strikes just going over the crossbar. A cold thursday night game vs Terrigal at pluim was always going to be tough . Home against Southern our first half was not up to our usual fast pace football and we gifted there keeper catching practice with shots on target but finding the keeper on every occasion . We regrouped at half time with the score at 0-0 and knew we could produce some goals as long as we were patient and converted oppotunities with Zoe scoring in the bottom corner followed by Gemma getting a good touch on a Cate cross to beat the keeper to give us a 2-0 lead which would be the final score after missing a few more shots during the 2 nd half . Well done on the win girls player of the match today is Izzy Johnson

The Cats finally pick up their first win of the season in a spectacular fashion with all three goals coming from set pieces. A free kick from deep in the midfield sent in by Liam Chauncy made easy pickings for Matt Allen to finish off with a well placed header sending the score into the cats favour. The pressure continued to mount as the cats were in search of a second goal, they were finally rewarded after a well structured corner piece. Logan Moore gave the signal from the corner post and all attacking players scrambled to the back post except for Matt Allen who again found himself unmarked on the front post who sent an absolute rocket of a header into the back of the net. To close out the game the cats found there third and final goal of the day off another corner, this time the captain, Mitchell Livingstone finding himself the opportunity to put the game out of reach. Another pinpoint cross from Logan Moore gave Mitchell ample time to first time side foot volley the ball into the top of the net, completely beating the goal keeper and leaving the the defence wondering how yet another player got free in the box. All the cats played well today and put in a clinical performance through all areas of the pitch, the midfield was untouchable and the back line didn’t look like they broke a sweat. A special mention to Bazza with his first clean sheet of the season with a performance that won’t soon be forgotten
Final score Woongarrah 3 Kanwal 0
