After moving into third position following their narrow win over Toukley last weekend, Woongarrah return to Hamlyn Terrace for back-to-back home matches as they begin what is, on paper, a tough final three premier league fixtures. The ‘Cats currently hold a four-point buffer over the Sharks in sixth as they look to secure a finals berth in their first season in the top flight. Following this weekend’s match, Woongarrah face the top two sides in the competition, Southern at home and Killarney at EDSAAC, a run of fixtures that made last weekend’s victory over Toukley all the more important.

Six victories on the bounce have seen Avoca continue to chip away at what was a five-point gap between themselves and a finals position, now only deprived of a position in the Battlewin Premier Leagues top five on goal difference as the competition enters its final three weeks. This six-week stretch has included big wins over Wyoming and Southern and Ettalong United as the Sharks continue to prove that they are capable of doing some damage in the final’s series. Both Avoca and Woongarrah have experienced little issues in finding the net on a regular basis so far this season, so here’s hoping we’ve not dished up another 0-0 draw as was the case earlier in the season at Pluim Park.
